What Data Telm Sees (and What It Never Sees)

In short

Telm only sees the groups you add it to as an admin. Inside those groups it receives messages so it can check them in real time, plus basic member profile data for reputation and impersonation checks. It never reads your private chats, other groups, your Telegram password, or your payment card.

1It only works in groups you add it to

Telm is a Telegram bot. Like any bot, it has no visibility into Telegram until you deliberately add it to a group and promote it to admin. There is no way for the bot to see a group it was never added to.

So access is always something you grant on purpose, group by group. Remove the bot from a group and its access to that group ends immediately.

2What it receives inside those groups

To moderate a group, the bot needs to see what is posted there. Telegram delivers group messages to the bot so it can run its checks. It also reads basic member profile information (such as the Telegram ID and username) that it needs for reputation scoring and impersonation detection.

  • Usage data about how the dashboard is used, so the product can be improved.
Seeing group messages is how every moderation bot on Telegram works. A bot cannot decide whether a message is spam without reading it first.

3What it never sees

There are hard limits built into how Telegram bots work, and Telm stays inside them.

  • Your private one-to-one chats and any group where the bot is not a member.
  • Your Telegram password or two-step verification code — login goes through Telegram itself, so Telm never handles it.
  • Your payment card details — payments are processed by Stripe, and the card number never reaches Telm.

4Messages are checked in real time

Message content is processed the moment it arrives. Afterwards it is kept for the analytics window of your plan, powering the moderation journal, message history and appeals — including the decision record you see when you audit or appeal an action.
