1Why bulk settings exist

When you run a network of groups, keeping every one configured the same way by hand is slow and easy to get wrong. Bulk settings fix that: you apply the same change to many groups in a single action.

For example, you can switch on a protection feature, adjust a moderation threshold, or update a welcome rule across your whole network at once, instead of opening each group one by one.

2How a bulk change works

You select the groups you want to update, choose what to change, and apply. Telm writes the change to each selected group and tells the bot to pick it up right away.

To keep every action fast and predictable, one bulk operation covers up to 50 groups at a time. You get a clear result for each group, so you can see exactly which ones were updated.

  • Choose the settings to change, or a saved preset.

  • A per-group result shows success or the reason it was skipped.

3Reusable presets

A preset is a saved bundle of settings with a name — for example a standard configuration you want new groups to start with. Once saved at the organization level, you can apply it to any selection of groups whenever you need it.

Presets turn a repeated setup into a one-click action, which is ideal when you regularly bring new communities into the network.

4Safety and validation

Bulk changes are checked before they are applied. Telm only accepts known, valid settings within their allowed range, so a typo or an unsupported value is rejected instead of quietly breaking a group.

If one group in the batch cannot be updated — for example because it left the network in the meantime — the others still go through. The result list shows which group failed and why.

Test a new preset on a couple of groups first, confirm the result, then roll it out to the rest of the network.

5Who can apply bulk settings

Applying settings across many groups is a powerful action, so it is limited to owners and managers of the organization. Analysts, who have read-only access, cannot run bulk changes.

This keeps configuration in the hands of the people responsible for the network, while analysts can still read the shared reports.
