Paying for Group Access as a Member | Telm

How joining a paid Telegram group with Telm works from the member's side: paying by card or Telegram Stars, renewals, expiry, grace period and refunds.

In short

When a group charges for access, Telm handles the door. You request to join, the bot messages you an offer, and you pay by card or Telegram Stars — one-time or as a monthly subscription, whatever the owner set up. Access is granted right after payment. If a subscription lapses, there is a short grace period before you're removed, and you can always rejoin by paying again.

1How joining works

You tap the group's invite link and send a join request as usual. Telm picks up the request and sends you a private message with the price and payment buttons: Telegram Stars in-chat, or a secure web page for card payments. Pay, and the bot approves you into the group — usually within seconds.

The offer doesn't wait forever: join requests expire after a period set by the owner (72 hours by default). If yours expires, just request to join again for a fresh offer.

2Card or Telegram Stars

Which options you see depends on what the owner enabled. Card payments run through a checkout page in your browser; Telegram Stars are paid right inside Telegram. Prices can differ between the two — the offer message always shows both.

Access can be a one-time pass (pay once, stay for the period the owner set — or forever) or a monthly subscription that renews automatically: Stars subscriptions renew through Telegram every 30 days, card subscriptions renew monthly through the payment provider.

3When a subscription ends

If a renewal doesn't go through — cancelled, card declined, out of Stars — access doesn't vanish mid-sentence. Your pass enters a grace period (a few days, set by the owner) during which you stay in the group. Telm also warns you by DM up to 72 hours before a subscription runs out.

If the pass isn't renewed by the end of grace, the bot removes you from the group — but not with a permanent ban. You get a DM with a renewal link and can come back the moment you pay again.

Removed by mistake, or paid and still outside? Message the group's admin — they can see and restore your pass from their dashboard.

4Cancelling a subscription

Stars subscriptions are managed by Telegram itself: open Telegram's Settings → My Stars to see and cancel active Stars subscriptions. Card subscriptions are attached to the group — ask the group's owner or admin to cancel your pass, and the recurring payment is cancelled with it.

Cancelling doesn't cut access immediately: you keep your place until the end of the period you already paid for.

5Refunds

Refunds are issued by the group's owner. When a payment is refunded in full, the pass is revoked and you leave the group; a partial or goodwill refund keeps your access until the end of the paid period. If you were double-charged, Telm refunds the duplicate automatically.

For card payments, disputes go through your bank as usual — but a chargeback also revokes the pass, so contacting the owner first is usually faster and friendlier.
