How to Cancel Your Subscription

How to cancel a Telm group subscription, what happens to your group afterward, the grace period, and how to reactivate before the period ends.

In short

Cancel from the group's billing page. By default your subscription stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, then the group drops to Free. You can reactivate any time before the period ends without losing a thing.

Manage or cancel your subscription here.

1What cancelling does

Cancelling stops future renewals. In the standard flow your paid features stay available until the end of the current billing period (the date you already paid through), and only then does the group return to the Free plan. You are not charged again after you cancel.

You can cancel a plan subscription and any add-ons (such as the custom white-label bot) the same way, from the group's billing page.

2The grace period

After the paid period ends, Telm keeps card-based (Stripe) subscriptions active for a short grace window of 72 hours. It is there so a delayed renewal payment or a briefly lost payment confirmation does not instantly knock a paying group down to Free.

Subscriptions bought through the mobile app stores (Apple or Google in-app purchase) use a much longer grace window of up to 60 days, because the stores themselves run extended billing-retry and account-hold periods during which the subscription is still legitimately paid.

The grace period is a safety net against lost payment notifications, not extra free time. If you cancelled on purpose, the group returns to Free at the end of the period you paid for.

3What happens to your group

When the subscription ends, the group returns to the Free plan and its limits: 500 members of included capacity, 7-day history retention, and 5 custom rules. Purchased member-capacity blocks and paid-only features (AI moderation, broadcasts, fake-admin detection, API access) switch off.

Your group itself, its settings and its moderation history are not deleted. If you resubscribe later, the group picks up on the plan you choose.

4Reactivating before it ends

If you cancelled but the paid period has not ended yet, you can reactivate the same subscription and it simply carries on its normal renewal schedule, with nothing lost.

If the period has already ended and the group is back on Free, just start a new subscription on any plan from the billing page.

5History and data after downgrade

On Free the history retention window is 7 days, so message history beyond that window is no longer shown, even though your group stays intact. Upgrade again and the longer retention window of the paid plan is restored going forward.

To move to a lower-priced plan instead of cancelling entirely, see How to change your plan.
